How Parents Can Help

Educational Philosophy

I believe that secondary education is important for everyone. Our schools should not only prepare the students for the colleges or future employments, but also teach the students how to think critically and how to treat others with respect and honor. For that purpose, everyone has to work together, the administers, the teachers, the parents and the students. They are like the four wheels on a car. The car will not work if any one of the wheels is missing.

When I reflect upon my own experience of being a student, I think the most important role a good science teacher can play is to inspire curiosity and encourage scientific rationales among students. A student's learning potential is better induced by his/her own curiosity than the pressure from a parent/teacher or an exam. To that extent, I will strive to make my topic interesting and relevant to real life, and challenge my students to think about how to apply the knowledge we have learned in the classrooms to benefit our life or to solve real problems.
